30x9.5r15 hurt or help mpg?

truck is 4x4 manual with 31x10.5r15 with G254 sticker so im guessing it has 4.56 gearing.
hankook dynapro at2 sounds like it will have good tread life and comes in 30x9.5r15 and 31x10.5r15. i wanted something thinner to get better mpg. do any of you think that a 30x9.5 will help or hurt mpg?

I think the smaller tire will hurt mileage some
4.56 is plenty low gear to turn 31 inch tires.
