floating screen stereos 9 inch

Has anyone installed a floating screen stereo? I'm researching them now, and would like to see pics of any installed in our 3rd gen 4Runners. It might just miss blocking the ac controls, but I'm not sure. I'll get a backup cam as well.

After installing a double din Pioneer, which crapped the bed 1 week after the 1 year warranty ended, I want something with a longer warranty that would be easier to see in the daytime. The Pioneer was difficult to see, due to its position and straight on install angle. The floating screens can be easily moved to avoid glare, etc.

Here's one example I'm considering, the Jensen 910W:

I havent installed that style in a 3rd gen. I have installed some of the first gen retractable Pioneer units that the screen would tilt flat and then slide back into the head unit so it didn't look obvious that you had a giant $1000 head unit. I don't have pics of those installs because that was a along time ago, but at least with that style unit the screen stuck out a few inches from the front so it would clear the other controls.

I got it installed ( Jensen car910x ) and it works great. With the screen slid all the way up, it clears the floor shifter. And it doesn’t block the ac/heat vents. The sound and mic work great for calls, and I like the side to side swivel option it offers. I’m changing several bulbs while I have the dash apart. Here’s the first pic.

About how far does it stick out from the dash? I'd like to put something similar in my '82 pickup, but clearances are an issue.

mine sticks out about as far as the pics show for @corrupt3db0x ‘s install. I will note that my stereo can be raised vertically so that it completely clears the shifter when in park. It’s a great upgrade. I wish I had done it years ago.

I recently sold the 4Runner, but I took a few last pics for the forum. Check it out.
