1988 Toyota Pickup 22re Knock Sensor and Oil pressure sensor
So I just recently bought a 88 Toyota pickup with the 22re. And someone had took the check engine lightbulb out so it wouldn’t light up. So fixed everything and was getting code 52 for the knock sensor. Upon further inspection, it turns out they’re isn’t one there. I seen the oil pressure sensor (idiot light) with the male spade connector. It’s located on the left of the oil filter. But I was pretty sure that’s where my knock sensor is suppose to go? I have the knock sensor plug hanging down there jus no knock sensor. And there’s also an oil galley port, so I was wondering if the oil pressure sensor went there instead and the knock sensor went next to the oil filter? So I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction?

the oil sensor appears to already be tapped into an oil gallery. you could remove it and confirm that it is a gallery. so, if it is, the knock sensor would not go there.
fwiw, my '87 22re has a different configuration for attaching things, but it has an untapped boss at the gallery where your pressure sender is currently located. the knock sensor in my '87 is higher than that, visible just below the fuel filter. your engine does not appear to have that mounting location tapped.
They must have changed the block configuration for the 88. Bcuz my block doesn’t have a spot where your knock sensor is located. Or one on the right side of the oil filter. I’d seen a post where people relocated the knock sensor to one of the unused spots just left of next to my oil galley port. But my plug won’t reach that far. So do they make like extenders that will extend my plug?
From looking at the valve cover picture from your other thread about connectors, some engine parts have been swapped out in the past. Your valve cover is from a 1984 or earlier engine. The rest of the engine may be from an older truck as well.
Post up some "engine bay" pictures and take a picture of the engine block under the exhaust manifold ( as best you can).
I hope these are good enough. Sorry that wasn’t as much room on the exhaust side to look through. (Update) Just figured out that they used a 22r block. It looks like a pre 85 block because I didn’t see the laser block thing people were talking about. So would it make an 83 or 84 block sense they were able to put the efi system on?
