Hi all!
First time posting here, but I have a 1982 pickup, 22R that is down to the block. I have a new cylinder head installed, and I'm rotating the crank to make sure everything looks good, it sounds like it's hitting something. So I pull the head back off, and sure enough the piston has a raised ring on the top, and that is hitting the mating surface of the cylinder head
What are my options? I've been thinking of just replacing the pistons (since everything is pulled apart to that point anyways) or can I have a machine shop machine the head to fit the pistons? Is that a thing? I'm kind of stuck.

OK! That makes sense. I do have the old head. The combustion chamber is round and fits the piston. To clarify, the old head is a perfect circle, and the new head is just space for the valves
