230 degree, killed it and blew off bypass hose

Well I've been having some issues with the 22rte overheating .
today I checked the thermostat and it's working fine (OEM one)
fixed the hose problem, put in about 1 gallon of 50/50 left the cap off and drove about a block down my road to a STEEP bank, put her in 4 wheel drive and climbed up the hill.
turned the heater on full blast, revved it up to about 1500rpm and waited for the stat to open. I just had the top of the tubes covered and when the start opened it started flowing. I slowly added fluid.
put the cap on, struggled to climb back in the truck and then went for a test drive.
A/C on full blast 75mph the temp stayed right on 190 degrees!! Woohoo

A good burping is an essential part of any cooling system drain/fill cycle. Sometimes the seeming overheat condition is an indication problem only. The sensor is a good place for a bubble to get caught, and when the system heats up, it can get steam caught there. This gives an indication of overheat that doesn't exist.

If the system is burped well, it eliminates problems like this. A good burping is a vital part of cooling system work.

Have fun, all!
