Hey guys, New member to the Toyota Family.
I recently purchased an awesome 89 Toyota 4X4 22RE pickup and am currently trying to get the AC running. This site has been a huge source of great info, I just wish I had jumped on earlier before I just started ordering things. I am in Tucson AZ so I hope you can understand my reasoning to get the AC back up and running, its pretty much life or death. The guy I bought the truck from gave me a box of new/used parts that he said were for this truck, but nothing matches. The hoses I have didn't fit into the manifold I had shipped from back east, the compressor I had the belt didn't line up with the pully, the second one the bracket only lined up with 3 of the 4 holes in the mounting bracket, and the list goes on. I almost have a whole separate AC system with the two different compressors and hoses I have bought and been trying trying to piece together.
Anyway, after cutting and splicing hoses together and going with the compressor that lines up with three of four bracket mounts since that is the compressor that matched both the manifold I bought and my hoses, I am down trying to locate the AC Harness that connects from the AC Amplifier to the trucks harness up and behind the glove box. I have searched all the local junk yards, E-Bay, CarParts.com and can't find one.
I found a couple trucks in Chula Vista CA in a You-Pull-It yard but they were unwilling to pull anything for me. It sounds like some of you guys have run into this type of situation, and was hoping somebody on here might have another recourse for me to get this. I got the AC Amplifier part # from a Toyota Dealership here in Tucson, Part # 88650-89106 and have attached a picture of the harness plug from my truck.
I appreciate any help you guys can give me in advance, I would even pay somebody in San Diego to pull the part for me from the You-Pull-It place if there are members close by.
Here is a pick of the truck. 1989 Toyota Truck, 22RE 4X4 5 speed MT. Engine was just rebuilt and interior is on really good shape too. Can't wait to be able to drive it around without being miserable.
This is one of the types of crazy things I have been running into as well. You can see that these two hoses almost look identical, but the new hose has a flare right at the back of the nipple next to the mount that won't allow it to seat flush in the manifold. I almost pulled my hair out after I realized this since I was sure the compressor and manifold I bought was the correct one. Who would change that like that? Just to be cruel and trick a shade tree mechanic? OK, rant over.
Thx again.
