Lower intake thermostat housing

I'm installing a new engine from sunwest and I noticed this chip in the top of my lower intake thermostat housing. Can I block sand this out? Any advice

If the correct thermostat and gasket ring are installed, perfect sealing can be expected whether or not that notch exists.

You don't need to do anything to it.

If you want peace of mind and feel it might be an issue, it won't be, you could fill it in with JB Weld and sand it level to the flange top.
