Hard Start After Timing Cover and Other Work - What did I break?
I finally got around to a bunch of needed maintenance ,and when I got everything back together the engine would not start (2004 5vz-FE in a Tacoma). I was eventually able to get it to start with starter fluid, and once running everything seems normal. I can shut it off, and restart if the engine is still warm. But if it cools off it is a struggle to get it running again. There is buzzing noise coming from the throttle body so I fear I messed it up while cleaning it. There is also a P0118 code (engine coolant temperature sensor 1 circuit high).
Could the engine temp sensor cause the starting issues or is that a symptom of something else? The sensor on the top of the head is plugged in, so it wasn't just leaving that one unplugged.
Did I break my TB? I manually opened the butterfly valve trying to get it clean.
I am basically looking for some help with trouble shooting so if I need to take the top of the engine off again I can go about it in a systematic way.
Recent work done:
Valve cover gaskets
Valve clearance (only one was out of spec at 215k miles, adjusted that one, and was in spec when I put the valve covers back on)
Timing belt along with timing pullies, water pump, tensioner)
Cleaned the TB and Mass Air Flow sensor, new PCV valve
Replaced all the coolant hoses
Here is a video with a start attempt and the TB noise
