98 5vz-fe high idle

Yesterday was fine, overnight it snowed and temperatures dropped to 15F, and today I have a high idler.

pulled the code and it gave me multiple cylinder misfire and cylinder two misfire and that’s all.

While listening to it idle at that RPM, it only sounds like it’s missing occasionally, so I put a new spark plug in that cylinder and no change. It’s running on a brand new coil as well. But that’s another issue for a later post.

I have researched to find that the I ACV commonly is the culprit, but before I tear into it, I wanted to get some input.

thank you for your time

If I push here, idle returns to normal.

Have you ever removed the intake boot and properly cleaned inside the intake? The butterfly & its mating surface gets gummed up over time.

yes sir, from the airbox to TB was cleaned but no further… until today, got to the IACV, cleaned it all out and reassembled and the problem persists.

IACV replacement is next.
