Supercharger Rebuild from Toyota

Hello All,

I'm happy to bring my 1997 Toyota T100 Into the community with it's Supercharged 5vz-fe. Im the second owner behind my grandpa.

I just hit 144XXX miles and supercharger was making some noise. Friend rebuilt the snout and it wasn't good enough. I took it to Toyota, and they shipped it away for rebuild.

Received a call from Toyota, and it was to cost me 2400 for the Rebuild service... I was blown away, not to mention thy said they had to rebuild the "bypass valve" and "fix" the rotors.

I was distraught and asked for an Itemized invoice and pictures before proceeding.

Is this common, or am I getting scammed?

Morgan

Sounds about right as only the core is good, don’t think you can “fix” rotors with nicks and if you can and balance it, it still sounds unwise for the amount of boost these run, just smooth them off and put it back together, Toyota is not doing any of the work on a Magnuson Supercharger they would send it to someone that builds SC’s, you would have been better off to send it directly to Magnuson or URD, both located in USA. It is 3500 for a new SC, and you would only be down a day to swap it, sell the old one for 1000 and let someone else rebuild it at home and you will have a new SC for 2500.
