A wide set of vice grips usually work fine, but the spring clamp pliers with the flexible head on a wire are amazing for getting the ones in tight places. You can get a fairly decent one for cheap. Worm gear hose clamps will chaff your hoses over time.

Worm drive clamps can be over tightened. PO on my truck used them all over. They can cause flat spots and turn the round nipple into a D shape. In my case, that actually caused a leak. Springs clamps work just fine.
That being said, I do keep a few worm drive hose clamps with my ZipLock of spare nuts and bolts in the truck just in case.

While I agree 100% most vehicles the spring clamps are long gone after the hoses get changed once or twice.
I just used what ever type pliers I had handy at times my Multi Tool because it lives on my belt gotta try the vice grips if I remember.
I never even thought till now to look I wonder can you buy a spring clamp assortment ??
