Angry How to keep little plastic doors closed?!?

So Ive had this problem ever since I had a 95 tacoma. Those little plastic compartments in the back, with the latches that go 90 degrees and pop off, driving dirt roads, bumps, etc, they just rattle out and whatevers inside (ratchet straps and oil cans in my case) just falls out. Does anyone have a good fix for this? Thinking of just sticking sticky backed foam around the edge to add a bit of tension to the system, but thought id check here to see if anyones solved it already!

I've used the foam wedge before -- the same type of compartments on my Land Cruiser have loose doors and it helped add the tension it needed. Worked fine, but my kids keep playing with the compartments and they've lost the piece of weatherstrip foam I added.

My next attempt will be using magnets - glue a small one to the backside corners of the lid, then slip a "u-nut clip" on the flange to catch the magnets.

I used the double sided foam tape and just left the backing on the outside. Worked well for me, think I put that on nearly 10 years ago.

I just tweaked the little arm that secures the door closed a bit to add tension.

The original foam on mine disintegrated because it got wet, so i used half inch self adhesive foam insulation to replace it. I don’t do trails, but no rattles now in on-road driving.

I did this also probably over 10 years ago and have had no issues with them falling off.
