1986 22r Turbo Called Old Yeller

Hey Guys,

Just been creeping in the background for a long time and never posted to this site but just wanted to say alot of you guys helped me out over the 6 years in the making of this truck. It has alot of history; Gone through a divorce, rolled off a flat deck trailer into oncoming traffic while being transported to my new place, hit a sign post without a lick of damage.

Was my first 4x4 ever bought back in 1994. Used it as my work truck for 2 years before it crapped the bed in 2001 and started to part it out. There it sat for 13 years before I decided in 2014 to turn it into a rebuild project for my son. Turns out he got into some trouble so I sent him to military school and I decided to make it my truck LOL.

I started ordering a crap load of parts most of which came from LCE. It was a comprehensive frame off restoration. Sand blasted, body work, painted and built everything myself. Learned alot about blow though turbos and wanted something rare, clean and still could be a daily driver.
  • Low boost Pro turbo kit with custom charge pipe
  • Dual Row Timing Chain
  • Chrome moly connecting rods
  • 5.29 gears
  • Block off plate kit
  • Pro turbo cylinder head with turbo cam
  • Weber fuel pressure regulator with boost reference
  • Premium master rebuild kit
  • Holley 350 modified boost referenced carb with Holley electric fuel pump
  • Pro Distributor w/o Vaccum advance
  • Crane Pro Fireball ignition kit and Magnecor wires and timing retard control and boost sensor
  • 4” Rough Country Suspension Kit and 3” body lift
  • KN carb hat and filters
  • Black Magic electric Fan
  • 35” Toyo MT’s on 18” x 10” fuel rims
  • Roll bar with LED lights
  • Fabtec Sparetire holder
  • New seat and door panel upholstery
  • Autometer Boost, wideband, oil pressure and water temp gauges
  • SR5 gauge cluster swap
  • Bushwacker fender flares
  • All new brakes, brake lines, ball joints, tie rod ends, wheel bearings, hubs, grill, bumpers, turn signals, carpeting, gap guards, battery, etc.
Ive wire wheel polished every bolt on this thing when it was put back together or put new bolts in it. Still needs a few tweaks like bigger jets in the carb, steering stabilizers, nerf bars and bush guard. It runs very strong and seems to be very dependable and turns alot of heads.

Thanks again everyone that helped.

The day it started. Was the blue one on the right. The green one is my parts truck.

First time I rebuilt a motor. Lots to learn from this point one still.

Motor on the frame.

Pieces.....lots of pieces.

Lots and lots of body work. Sand, sand, sand, sand........

Epoxy sealer first.

Shock yellow

Ready to put the cab on the frame with the skidsteer.

Cab on frame.

Old Yeller and the parts truck.

Engine bay pretty much complete.

Interior done.

Put in engine bay lights.

95% complete just needs nerf bars and bush guard.

Old Yeller.

What a great job. You should be very proud of the pickup and the job you did.
