Introduction and Post-Purchase Maintenance Checklist
Hi all, this will serve as my introduction post, as well as a couple questions about a post-purchase tune-up.
About me: Currently live in Fayetteville, NC. Current daily driver is a 2013 Tacoma, which replaced a 2001 Tacoma (miss it often). I do all my own routine/preventative maintenance (all fluids, plugs, filters), have replaced suspension components, a CV axle and a radiator. But i've never taken apart an engine. Now that I have the money, looking to buy a Toyota Truck with a 22RE, to learn on and to use as a daily driver to and from work (only about 5 miles). Budget for just the truck is about $5,000, with plenty more reserved for maintenance/replacement parts. I'll attach some photos of the truck i'm looking at now, and can go into detail about it if anyone is interested. I've also started compiling a list of things to do right after purchase. Any additions would be greatly appreciated. This is based on my current knowledge of vehicle upkeep as well as some threads on this forum, and info from 22REperformance.
To-do List after purchase:
-Replace Plugs
-Replace plug wires
-Engine oil/diff fluids/T case fluid
-Drop oil pan and inspect for metal
-compression test
-Time valves and replace valve seals
-Lube prop shaft
-Clean throttle body
-Replace engine air filter
-Inspect Timing chain and chain guides
-Grind rust off frame, wash, apply etcher, paint with POR-15
That's it! Lots of great advice on this forum. Happy to be here. Here are some pics of the engine bay on the truck i'm looking at, and one of the paint that the seller sent me, to inform me of the issue.
