1986 Toyota lock cylinder

On a 1986 Toyota pickup 2wd auto transmission should shifter lock on the column when turned off and key removed?

I know for a fact that the column shift automatics on these 2 wheel drive trucks do not lock. You can move the shifter around any time you want, even without the key.
