1st Gen Rear Bumpstop Upgrade

A while back, I was perusing my local junkyard and I found a cheap and easy upgrade for my 4Runner. The rear bump-stops from a late '90's to early 2000's Isuzu Rodeo fits our vehicles perfectly. In the first photo I lined up the original bump-stop with the Isuzu bump-stop. The last one has the ends of the mounting flange bend up to replicate the Toyota design. To install them I simply loosened the u-bolts, slid the Toyota ones out and put the Isuzu ones on. They are a little taller, but with the hollow design, they will compress more. The Toyota bump stops are hard, solid rubber, but the Isuzu bump-stops are of a hollow design so they are kind of progressive bump-stop. They work well.

Toyota, Isuzu, modified Isuzu
