2004 2.4L, AT, about 270k, started having to crank a few turns more than usual then was getting an intermittent rough/flooded feeling cold start, eventually a P0303. Replaced injector because it felt flooded on cold start and the extra crank to fire. Twas wrong, code came back. Then swapped 1 and 3 plugs and coils, code came back. Noticed a slow loss of coolant, no condensation in oil, no oil in coolant, no temperature change, no color changed in the test fluid when testing for exhaust in the radiator. No obvious leak from weep hole on water pump. Scoped the cylinders today and found coolant pooling in #3 after 8 hours parked.
So now the question is...replace head gasket/service head or is the head likely cracked or eroded like the 22RE can do between cylinders?
OR because it is a minor leak, head gasket sealer?
Any trick/hidden bolts or fasteners to be aware of when removing the head?
Bought this used and I have no idea what coolant was used. It is pink but does that necessarily mean it is Toyota fluid? I ask because I believe there are other pinkish coolants. I want to top off before it starts the overheat and I also need to prioritize this repair because I think have lucked out that there is no cross contamination...yet.
