Gas tank pressurized

Purges fuel thru can on firewall. Spits & sputters. Drilled hole in gas cap Engine runs

If you want any detailed help you will have to ask a detailed question. Is this a Hummer? A Kenworth? 1964 or 2019?
Did anyone recently swap out the fuel pump or pickup tube?
It is likely some hoses got crossed and drilling a hole in your fuel cap to make it run would suggest a vacuum in the tank rather than pressure.
