22r timing problems

22r timing problems
Hey guys, I've browsed Yotatech for a long time now and have always found the info I've needed, but I have a problem that just searching for isn't helping.
I have a remanufactured 22r in my 1980. I recently put the motor in, buttoned everything up and turned it on to set the timing, but there's been many issues.
I set the engine to 0* TDC on the compression stroke, I then insert the distributor with the rotor pointing up at 12* and slide it in. It seats and appears to be pointing
at the number one plug on the cap. I tighten everything down, set up the timing light and start the truck and when I check the timing it is way off. It doesn't even idle
at the 0* mark, it idles poorly far to the right if you are facing the truck. I can rotate the distributor a small amount, which helps, but it's not enough to even get the mark to
0*. I feel that I may be doing something wrong, but I don't know what it is. I've attached a link to a short video.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Have you tried to install the distributor one tooth either direction? (not sure which way you need to go)
Ideally it should seat in about the middle of the adjustment slot. You should be able to rotate enough to get well past 0*.

I'll give that a try. I'm sure I was just off a tooth or so.
