Seeking Smaller Emergency Brake Lever

I'm in the process of redoing the center console on my 2001 4 Runner. The factory emergency brake setup seems to take way too much room for the simple task of just putting tension on the brake cable.

Has anyone ever seen a lever with a smaller footprint? I'm thinking something that I would pull up vertically. Perhaps something with an electrical motor?

I'm not looking to change the emergency brakes themselves, just the mechanical activator

Interesting. Maybe you can adapt an under-dash e-brake handle from an earlier Toyota pickup...

Putting anything but a mechanical system sort of defeats the system of a mechanical brake

I doubt you will have the Mechanical advantage needed to pull straight up

As it is now your using a lever
