22r fuel supply low pressure to weber.

So, I just replaced the fuel pressure gauge on my 83 (22r, weber 32/36, electric choke, Holley fuel pressure regulator, no emissions) and I have no reading on my gauge while the truck is running. The pump is working, the truck runs and idles fine. I tried kinking the fuel line to see if it would build pressure, and it didn't, but I could squeeze the fuel supply to carb line and get 2 psi of needle movement. I don't really know where to go with this from here. Does anyone have any input? I'm not sure if it is my fuel pump failing or not. Also I'm trying to figure out what to do with my charcoal canister and vent my tank.

What was the old fuel pressure gauge doing to need replacement? What pressure is the regulator set at?

The first gauge fogged up and was unreadable, the second rattled to pieces, I'm not sure as to what the regulator is set at, I started messing with the adjustment screw to see if I could get a reading on the dial. after running the screw in until it was nearly flush with the top of the regulator body, the retainer nut doesn't have enough threads to grab on anymore, but I got it to register at 2.5 PSI. The gauge works, the fuel pump is getting fuel to my carb, although I'm unaware how much exactly.

From what I was able to find, the stock mechanical pump only puts out 3-5 psi. That should be enough to set your regulator down to approx. 2.5-3 psi (Weber specs). I bought my fuel regulator from LCEngineering part# 1035056

so, it just decided to start working spontaneously but my pressure now varies. I set it at 2.5 and planned to gradually bring the pressure up until I found where it ran the best. it slowly crept to about 3.2 psi as it ran.

More than 2.5 psi on a 32/36 isn't a good thing long term.
