I'll won't be running the rock course at the Colo. Off Highway Expo on Sun. 4/4/04

If any of you guys are out there this Sunday, look for me. Evidentially there are setting up a rock course with a bunch of dirt and boulders. They were specifically asking local club members to volunteer to run the course. They didn't want any "beater" rigs, and liked the idea of my Runner in the show. I'll be there Sunday 10-2pm. I think Mike Brown will be there to take some pictures and video.

Hmm, we thought about going to this - but now I know when we'll go if we do. Maybe I'll see ya there!

That's cool, Scott! I wonder how big the rocks are going to be. I doubt I'll make it, but I'd sure look forward to seeing Mike's pics and vids. I wonder how big of a crowd will be watching you! Be sure to put on a good show with the JadeRunner!

I went to that show last year. It was OK.

Looks like I need to try getting out there again this year. I'm not sure I can be there during that time, but I'll sure try. It would be great to see Scott's 4Runner on the rocks.

I'm hoping to talk to Scott and Mike B. and whoever else is interested concerning CO4RJ planning for this year just to make sure someone has the ball rolling.

Hey, for you guys in Denver area, are you interested in indoor go-karts on the evening of Wednesday, April 14th? It's near Stapleton. Maybe we could go to a restaurant after that? Mike (azrain) will be in town then and has requested that evening being the best for him. It would be nice to get a few people together. See 4x4wire for more details about that evening (although the details are just being figured out).

I hope I don't look like a complete idiot when I stall on an obstacle and sit there cranking the engine to re-start. But, that's just what I do with my 5 speed and 4.10's when going as slow as possible. Oh well. I'm saving for a Tacoma Crawler from Marlin.

Jeff, Mike and I have starting the initial CO4RJ plans and need to discuss them with you. April 14th could be a possibility for me, but tough since I'm leaving for a wedding on the east coast the next day. I'll see what I can do. I would like to meet Mike-azrain.

Hey Scott, I'll be there on the 13th as well. I have to catch a red-eye back from L.A. back to PHX on the 12th and then fly to DEN mid-day on the 13th. If the 14th doesn't work and someone wants to hang, I'll quit being a puss and tough it out, LOL!

Have fun on the expo rocks, webwheelers like me need some inspiration to do something other than work!

Mike

Scott,
That's great that you and Mike have the ball with CO4RJ. I'm very glad you guys are running with it. This is going to be a very busy year for me, so I hope to be able to attend CO4RJ this year. I'm happy to discuss whatever ideas about CO4RJ.
Later,
Jeff

Have you guys narrowed down a timeframe/month for CO4RJ yet or is it still too early?

show

hey, i just got back from the show. It was pretty cool. The rock coarse was the best part. I dont know if its quite doable in a 4runner, and if so, I want to see some pictures of it. I saw a samari do the coarse and ended up breaking its driveshaft towards the top. Here are some pictures.

That's it - I'm out!

I am not in to tearing up my Runner (and daily driver) on a pile of rocks in the city. It looks like I would get undercarriage and rear bumper damage for sure. I'd rather do that tackling an obstacle on a run. It really looks like 35's and front locker territory. I'll be there to check it out though, and meet Mike Brown around 12:30.

I'm going to do an early run from Central City over Yankee Hill tomorrow morning. I've been itching to wheel and will not be able to go again until May. If anyone wants to join me, let me know. Meet at the central city graveyard at 8:30am?

yea, i thought that might be a little tuff for a 4runner without a SAS and some 37's. Those rock buggies had quite a bit of trouble even tackling it.

Now I get the time frame. I saw the pics and was looking for the Jade runner out there but found tube instead. Good call on passing this time Scott, looks like stalling would not be the only issue.

Dang! That's a really nice pile of rocks (for 37's and a tube frame). Good choice to bug out with a daily driver.

Thanks for posting those pics MellamoPOUND! I probably would have showed up and passed. That would have been a waste of precious wheelin' time for me.
