01 4runner rear window not working/defrost working

I've searched the forum and haven't been able to find an answer. Bought this runner with the window not working.

Rear window up or down by the switch does not work. (rear key in tailgate is seized and won't work). I have tried a known good switch
Rear wiper does not work
Defrost DOES work.
I have tried to force the wiper down/up to reset it.

Any suggestions?

I would bet the lock cylinder is wrong for the key you have .

You have checked all the fuses and Circuit breakers are in place and good.

If you don`t have a Meter now is a good time to get one.

Crawl into the back of your 4Runner remove the hatch covers and apply 12VDC to the window motor get it down so you can work on it .

Might be any number of things keeping it from not working

If you can get yourself a copy of the Electrical Wiring Diagram for your 4Runner

Check the harness between the liftgate and the body by the hinge. The wires inside that harness flex a lot and the wires break and the insulation cracks and flakes off causing shorts. This is the cause of much liftgate weirdness.

EWD ('01 and '02 should be the same:

If the above suggestions don't work out, the lock cylinder is actually window up-down control and has power all the time, it can corrode and send conflicting messages to the rear window control unit saying it is open cancelling wiper control. Mine use to roll down on its own randomly on rainy wet snowy days. flush the lock cylinder with PB Blaster well working the key until it starts working again. then electrical cleaner and then dielectric grease to keep it from doing it again.

Did you ever solve this problem ? I am havig the same issue but I checked the wiring harness from the body to the gate and it looked ok ..... It could have failed since the last check ( I had a key lock problem when I checked last )

It was the harness where it bends in the boot between the tailgate and the body.
