What's the deal with the slip yoke spewing grease? Take a look

Also when I take off from a standstill in first, unless I get my RPM/throttle/clutch let off perfectly I get this horrible shuttering/vibration. Could this be a failing U joint? I checked for play but they seem good in that regard. Any other way to diagnose them? I might just replace them anyway since they're probably at least 15 years old and u joints are a cheap fix. If it makes any difference I don't get the shuttering when downshifting or up shifting.

A worn out clutch, oil on the clutch, or a new clutch without a resurfaced flywheel can cause shuddering when first taking off. If the U-joints have no play I wouldn't replace them, it's cheap but a pain in the butt. If you still have Toyota joints keep them, they are better than any aftermarket ones and will last a lot longer, just keep them greased. The slip yoke has no seal, just grease it every oil change and when you go through water. Don't worry about a little grease splatter, it's just automatic rust preventative.
