hi to all of you from so-cal (san diego), newbie in the yota world. thanks in advance for helping out or just reading the post.
I recently purchased a 84 yota pick up 2wd prerunner, fully caged, linked, long travel very well made. i took it apart to prep it, previous owner left it unused for a long time, i repainted roll cage, changed lots of bolts, new brakes, rebuilt coil overs, and replaced some bushings etc etc. put it all back together and drove it to get front wheel alignment, since its long travel (total chaos style front suspension) and very soft dual rate king shocks, we could not get it to align correctly, when the suspension is compressed the tires toe out, and when the suspension is fully extended they toe in, after scratching my head over and over, i figured out that if i raised the sterring point on the spindle about 2 inches it would not cause my tires to toe out or in as much.
anybody done something similar or had the same problem? pics are during and after taken apart and putting back together....
Nice truck!
On my TC kit, there is a spacer welded onto the steering arm that does exactly what you are talking about. Seems like adding that onto the arm and tying it back into the spindle to double sheer it is how they solved the issue. But these kits still do produce some bumpsteer towards the end of there travel.
