Hey guys, this is my first post on here so bare with me. Okay so the story is, doing a timing chain job and got evrything back together, i go to put the crank pulley on and it bottoms out on the oil pump drive spline. Tried to push it down and it wont budge. My first thought is that i put the spline in backwards. I put the spline side toward the block and the smooth side toward the front of the truck. Now my problem is i can't get it out to turn it around. I took the oil pump off and padded my channel locks but didnt have any luck. Im hoping i wont have to take the cover off again because that will make the 3rd time lol. This is my first time tearing into an engine and im doing it by myself but im hoping that you guys on yotatech can point me in the right direction. And before anyone says it, I searched before posting!

Do you have a blind hole bearing puller like what you might use for the pilot bearing .

That might work

When you tried to put the pulley on it most likely got pushed in pretty good

 

Yeah after scratching my head for two days i finally decide to let you guys know how dumb I am lol. I don't have any pullers of any kind. I probably need to invest in a couple different kinds but I don't know how well the wife will take it. Any other ideas? I definitely shouldn't have to take the timing cover off though should I?

 

All this time you have been pondering what to do you could have had it off and back together .

Any one close that could help ??

Hose clamp attached carefully might give you enough to pry on.

Make two pieces of metal with ears held on with the hose clamp

drill holes large enough to get a screwdriver through and pry on the front of the crank

You have sprayed this with your penetrating spray of choice ??

Once it breaks loose it should come right off

 

Hose clamps is a good idea! Ill let you know how it goes! That is if the black snake in my barn don't give me a heart attack lol
