Sounds like a drive shaft U-joint bearing going out and developing play. As long as it's loaded, it behaves, but as soon as the torque is released, it starts wobbling and vibrating.

Does sound like U-Joints. I change them out on both ends of the drive shaft. It can be done at home but I would suggest pulling the drive shaft and taking it to a shop with a press and have them to install the U-joints. Some times they can be a real bear to get out and you don't want one falling out going down the road.

U joints dont explain the vibration when in neutral if u mean its there when stationary, or do u mean that its still there when u put it in neutral at 70kmh?. Is there a noise to accompany the vibration? Does the vibration change in neutral if u depress the clutch pedal? If the vibration disappears or gets better with the clutch engaged. Im thinking its more along the lines of the input bearing in the gearbox. To check the u joints, give the tailshaft the chinese burn test at both ends

My ExCab '89 started doing that and i believe it was the pinion bearing that went out because of the broken pinion seal (oil was splashed everywhere around where it meets the drive shaft). i replaced the whole rear end so i'm not sure if that was the culprit but it did stop the maniacal grinding noise. Maybe try and give the drive shaft a good shake near the 3rd member? Sorry not much help
