zuk mod ?'s for 1984 bandit (2wd p/u)
hi,
i'm planning on doing a zuk mod on my 1984 bandit (like a chinook, 2wd pickup with a pop-up mini motorhome). the back is getting kind of saggy and i just want to bring it up to level.
i'm clueless about coil springs. wondering if anyone can recommend which springs to use, what length/weight?
consider that i'm always driving under load and the weight on my rear axle is about 3200 lbs.
also, i lost about 3/4 of an inch cause i had to switch to smaller rims to get a 6-ply tire.
because its spring under axle, i'm going to have my welder buddies make me custom mounts and weld them directly onto the axle/frame, so spring diameter shouldn't be an issue.
let me know if any measurements would be helpful, my friend is borrowing the bandit but should be back by the weekend and i can get more specifics and/or post pics then.
thanks!
dicky

If it was me, I would rather put a set of helper bags on the axle with a tank and small compressor than a set of coil springs. That way you can adjust the height and ride on the fly. You could also set it up to have accessible on board air for tires, tools, air beds, or anything else while camping or out in the sticks.
