Set pin on spider cross pin question

Recently finished putting my Aussie locker in my 4cyl third and was wondering if I need to do something to secure the set pin for the cross pin?

I had to drill out one side in order to knock it out which I'm guessing is how that set pin is secured from the factory. I have the pin back in and I can knock it in/out from either side. Worried it might eventually walk out.

Are you guys putting a tac weld on each end or something?

They peen them from the factory. Triangular shaped dent shown in the first picture above. You should have drilled that side out ONLY. Then you could either peen it again, or whatever to close up just that side.

But there's got to be a bunch of ways to fix what you did. Thread a couple small bolts/screws in each end of the hole...maybe? Center the pin and fill the ends with JB weld? I'm sure I could think of a few more. Tack welds would be the last thing I'd do...for sure.

I only drilled one side. The one that had been punched.

Correction, it'll only come out the side I drilled.

Guess I'll get a punch and see if I can oblong the hole back
