Broken sun roof

My sun roof in my 87 4Runner is completely spider webbed. Glass on eBay is over 400$ plus shipping I've seen that some one has a over head console from a Yukon. This is a need for me so I am wondering what I could do to cover up the sun roof and make it solid so I don't have to worry about 1 it being more broken and shattering. 2 leaking and rotting out the cab. I was thinking plexi glass or some kind of thick plastic or some cover that would fit inside the opening so I could mount he over head console

If you're worried about leaks then a cobbled up plexiglass cover is a bad idea. My factory sunroof doesn't leak. Make sure all 4 drain tubes are clear and yours won't either. You're better off finding a used sunroof in a junkyard or here in the classifieds. If you go to the junkyard they are super easy to remove. No tools required.
