Erratic idle. Suggestions? Atlanta, GA area

Edit: sorry this is not the section i meant to post in. But I'm in Atlanta, GA metro area

Idle has always been erratic in the past. Sometimes it would stick higher, around 1200. Tapping the gas would drop it back in line to about 900.

But only occasionally. Lately it's doing it a lot. But now idle is coming down to around 550. And sticking as high as 1400. My old carb'd VW would do this. But this is efi.

If i tap the gas enough it will straighten out and hold at 800 nicely. But then drive away and come to another stop, and go through it all again.

I've had multiple shops try to resolve this. They all failed as it still does it. It's been years.

I wish i could get this handled once and for all. Any good ideas? I've got to do something but i don't know what. Tired of putting this off

When i look at the throttle flap during the fault condition, i can see it's sticking open. I just press on the bar where the return spring attaches and it closes easily enough, and idles right. I've replaced this spring, and the little one way air valve that dangles next to it. Neither helped. I've pulled the boot and sprayed cleaner all around the flap. No help.
