1998 tacoma dome light issue

Dome light quit coming on when I open my drivers side door. They work when I open the passenger side door and they work when you push the button up top to turn them on. I have heard there is a switch some where on the door that may be stuck? I have looked around and I can't seem to find where such a switch or button could exist. If anyone can tell me where its located at so I can examine it and the wires that would be awesome.

That switch protrudes from the 'A-pillar'. You can't see it until you open the driver door. Its just a few inches from the driver left shin.

I believe you can test the switch by leaving the key in the ignition after you turn it off and opening the door. The chime should sound until you close the door again. If it doesn't, then you probably have a dirty switch or maybe a broken wire (not as likely).

On the older generation of trucks, people would remove the door buzzer box and not realized that the drivers door dome light circuit went thru that box. May not apply to your generation but maybe something that Toyota continues to do.
