Trying to help a good friend out. Her carbed 85 is having a severe surge when the AC is on. I tried searching and I can only find the 22re issue with the idle screw or the AAV system...Nothing on the 22r

I was hoping someone could help out. It's severe enough to cause the car to lunge when she's downshifting. At least that's what I've picked up from our conversations.

There's an adjusting screw on the throttle bracket, that if it is adjusted too far in, the engine will rev up and down.

See pic below, it is labeled "A/C Throttle Up Screw". Screw it out until the revving stops.

 

Mine would surge if it was on for long periods no matter how low or high the AC idle was set. The Asian is great according to everyone but seems kind of a hassle to tune properly
