please see photo attached of a plug that I do not know if was plugged somewhere in past history. I have looked everywhere and see no location for where to plug this connection. does any one know? please help! thanks

 

That looks like the connector that goes to the coolant temp sensor (the one for the gauge, not the ECU). The wire going to it will be yellow with a green stripe if this is the case.
