20mm or 23mm Input bearing for my G52 4x4, need to order kit.

Well I've decided to order my transmission overhaul kit and need to know how do I tell which input bearing my tranny has in it. This is my 87 Toyota 4x4, 22R w/ 5speed G52 transmission.

Is there a number on the tranny or other external way to tell which input bearing I need without pulling the tranny first? This is my daily driver that I can't put out of commission while I wait for parts to come. So I can't take it apart first.

Thanks for the help in advanced,

grey

You may have to order both bearings to minimise your downtime.

You should be able to return the unused one if you don't unwrap it.

I was planning on buying over the internet. Looks like the place I'm planning on buying from is selling Pro-King Transmission rebuild kits. Kit I'm looking at, BK160WS, is about $175 delivered from a company called Vital Parts. Anybody deal with them?

Check that kit number on Ebay. You can do near $40 better on the price.

Well poo, I was hoping to order my parts before tearing down my truck... Can the tranny overhaul be done without a hydraulic press? I can buy one if I have too, but don't want to buy a tool for only one job...
