Finally got my solid axle truck

I've been waiting to get one of these for years. I had to get rid of my 4runner a couple years ago for financial reasons, not having a yota in my life has been miserable. My Dad found this in Montana and for the money I couldn't afford to not buy it.

It's an 1983, 5spd, 4x4 and while it may not look as good as most trucks on here its in my garage at my house so to me, it's perfect.

Anaconda? Deer Lodge?

At first I was kind of hoping it would be my old truck, but it's not...

Nice work! It'll be fun to have. And a lot of work, I'm sure...

Haha nice you recognized it, it came from anaconda. My dad bought a 1960 ford f100 4x4 off of the same gentleman as well.

Definitely will he some work involved. It's got a really faint bottom end knock, I'm gonna drop the pan and throw in new rod bearings, also the frame on the front is everso sllightly tweaked from an accident. I might have to take it to a frame shop for that though, I'll try to get it straight myself but it might be beyond my skills without the proper equipment.

Cool. Yeah there are still a few of these things hanging out at ranches and in empty lots around the rural areas of the country. And Montana is one of those where there's a decent chance of it not being a total rust bucket.

And you can see in that last photo one of the 2 spots where the frame is barely tweaked. right behind the shock, where that crap reinforcement plate is.

Dumb joke that only I think is funny. Because swapping in a ttb into a solid axle toy is the most ridiculous thing I can think of. And I think 44" thornbirds would be practically useless. I don't know. I make fun of stuff.

No, it's definitely funny. I'm sure somewhere out there is a die hard ford fan who thinks the, tire shredding, toe changing, ball joint eating pile of crap under the front of there truck is the greatest thing ever. And would argue to swap it into everything.

I know this because I've owned three in the past.

You're truck looks really good aswell, keep up the good work you've accomplished 👍

Sorry about nothing happening in here. I had to put the truck on the back burner. Hopefully soon some headway will be made.

The bottom end knock will need a rebuild, the bearings quite it down a little bit it's still there.

And the frame is still tweaked, it drives straight down the road so I hadn't worried too much about it yet

Hey everyone, I'm getting ready to rebuild my carburetor. Is there anything I should do while it's apart to enhance reliability/performance?

Thanks for any help.

Also I have no idea why I put this in tech section originally. Could a moderator please move this to the build section. Thanks!
