New Handmade Replica Shifter Boots For Sale

I do all of my own upholstery work out of my industrial sewing shop. One of the items I needed to make was an interior shifter boot for my current daily driver, a 1982 Longbed Toyota 4x4 Pickup.

Since I went through the effort of drafting a working pattern, I decided to make them available for sale to other Toyota enthisiasts here and potentially elsewhere.

Below are photographs from the time of installation.

I have a detailed installation guide on page 2, post #23 of this thread. Most members here tend to have some level of mechanical aptitude, and should have no problem installing one. Right now, I'm about to make 4 of these in various color and material options, and install and photograph those options using my truck as an example.

Material prices:
$35 for vinyl fabric, black standard (custom color options available)
$45 Genuine Full-Grain Leather, black is standard (custom options available)

Send a PM to order.
Joel

I'll make any replica of a shifter boot as long as I can get the original sent to me so I can draw a pattern for it.

Custom sewn parts is my business!

Replacement panel material is 1/8" masonite. Stock door plastic bits are filled with plastic brick wall anchors cut short to fit the length. The screws are #8 or #10 with finish washers. That's the best way I can think of to mount them. It would be hard to accurately cut a lot of little rectangular holes for the stock fasteners. It's hard enough as it is with the system I've got to get it all to line up. I've got an idea for making a locating pattern for these doors using clear plexiglass to locate the holes.

I could make it more like the TRD one on your existing knob, which is an actual leather wrap, not like the molded "leather wrap" looking SR5 steering wheels and knobs.

Most likely- I'd want to see a photo first. I'd want to know how the existing boots are held down at the base- are they constructed out of vinyl or similar material, or molded rubber? It's best and easiest if they are already some sort of vinyl leather-like material, but anything is possible...

19854runner, sorry for the delay. I am still interested in your project. After the holidays sounds good. I just dug up my spare shift knob out of parts storage. I wanted to do one so I know how long it takes and to make sure it works well for you and for accuracy of pricing. I just got some sleek goat skin from the leather store a couple weeks ago.

I have located patterns for the shifter boot and am sewing together a black one for a user here, and a military canvas one for a friend I just made some seat covers for. I am getting started patterning for a shift knob leather wrap. If I get that working out, I'll be taking a big step up and wrapping my steering wheel also.

I've got that black shifter boot made for a member here. I also made one for my friend out of green military canvas while I was at it. Here's the black one. Tomorrow I'm going to test fit it to my truck and get started on that shift knob leather wrap project. I think I'm going to wrap my nicer one and keep that for myself, the idea of having that is a good one. I'm missing the feel of my old school vinyl spiral corded steering wheel cover, but leather wrapping that would result in a really luxurious driving experience. We can use all of that we can get with these rugged beasts.
