85 pickup 22re

My truck doesn't idle high when cold on startup anymore after I rebuilt it. I'm pretty sure it used to before I got in to the motor. Can anyone tell me what to check? Or if it should idle high on cold starts?

Check valve that bolts onto upper intake plenum. I removed mine and same symptoms.

I have to get it started then it idles low till it warms up.

Mines starts fine , just curious as to why it doesn't have a high idle until it warms up.

It doesn't idle low, it's sits about 800 to 900 rpm.
