I went to the dealership yesterday to find out what the heck was wrong with my car and they said I need a new Fuel Damper... Does anybody know exactly what this does?

 

It eliminates fuel pump pulsation before the fuel gets to the injectors. Unfortunatly, this is usually an expensive part. Try telling them you are in the Toyota Land Cruiser Association (TLCA). They might give you a benefit. This is something you can install yourself to save the hour of labor they'll charge.

 

I was thinking of installing it myself, but I cant find anything on it my Haynes manual. Any suggestions?

 

This is also referred to as a fuel accumulator, and, ICBW, I don't think you have one. Call a different dealer and ask for a fuel damper or accumulator.

If case you do have one, they look like another fuel filter, except usually the innie and outie lines are on the same end. They have one fuel line in and one out, no electrical connection, and are located somewhere between the tank output and the fuel rail. Can be on either side of the filter. Most of them I've seen have been mounted on the inside of a frame rail before the filter.
