4 speed to 5 speed mini truck

I am sure this is a dumb question, but I have to ask. I have a lot of experience in Landcruisers, but none in mini trucks. I am looking for a clean rust free minitruck with a 22R. I want AC, PS, (which is an easy add), and a 5 speed, and I see a number with 4 speed.

Will the 5 speed bolt right in? Are they easy to source. Cost?

Sorry--searched and didn't find specific answers.

Are you talking a 4x4 or 2wd??

Yes it should bolt up .

You might need to modify your crossmember and driveshaft if 2wd

4x4 is a little different.

Been quite a while since I have worked on one that old so I could be completely wrong.

You have to use a L50 or L52 for it to be bolt-on to the crossmember (because they are the same length as the 4-speed) later transmissions like the g series or w series will bolt to the motor but they are longer so you will need to modify your crossmember and the length of the driveshafts. you can use google to do a good search, there are hundreds of topics on this subject, a lot of good info on marlin crawler's site, he is a toyota transmission guru.

And what years would the L50 or L52 be out of

Albert Einstein once said, the most intelligent man is not one who knows everything, but one who knows where to get the answer. Happy swaping, I'll be doing it too this winter.
