Like anything else the first time can be real frustrating .

Depends on your mechanical skills

You hands do tend to get cut up reaching through the holes in the door.

Not real technical but can be a pain.

Just what happened to yours??

Do you have a window winder clip tool? That' sea out all you'll need besides a couple of sockets.
First take off the door handle and plastic shroud near the door latch, and the winder handle clip and winder lever. Then carefully pop the door panel off around the edges. Not sure if you have speakers in your door. You can use a stiff putty knife to pop the door panel clips out. Once the door panel is off, roll the window down until 2 bolts are visible at the bottom of the window. Off with those and the regulator is free from the glass. You may need to remove the interior seal strip at the top of the door if you want to take the glass out, but it's not necessary. There are 3-4 bolts holding the regulator to the door.

Once those are out you can hold the glass up with one hand and pull the regulator through the big hole in the door. Wind the new one to the same position and install. (This is where you may need to remove the glass so it's not in the way. Through trial and error you will be able to turn it 90 degrees and pull it out the top.) Once the new regulator is in, you should be able to clear it with the glass and then pull it into position fairly easily. There's a little juggling here, but it's pretty simple stuff. Put everything back together.

The trick with getting the clip back into the winder handle is as follows. Roll the window all the way up and position the winder such that it's comfortably out of the way. The neat thing about the winder shaft is that it is tapered, so you can install the clip and just push the lever on and the clip rides over the tapered shaft and snaps into the groove. It took me years to figure out how simple it could be to reinstall that without fumbling with the clip and accidentally dropping it and trying to get it seated.

Well I have had the plastic in the handle get brittle with age and do just what yours is doing.

Good luck

Kind of an interesting read. My drivers side window still functions properly but has way more resistance than I think it should. It certainly takes more force to operate it than the passengers side.

I'm guessing it just needs a thorough cleaning and re-greasing. Never delt with that before.
