Lowering an 81 4x4

I know, I know, everybody else is jacking theirs higher and higher, but I want to see if I can lower mine. Maybe it's standard, or just the tires, but I just got an 81, 4x4, (WA State), pretty rust free except for the bed. I think it just looks high and I think dropping it a couple of inches and it will look better. I'll post a picture and measure from top of tire and bottom of wheel well. New to the forum and looking forward to getting my hands dirty with my new toy. Not really an off-roader, just replacing my 65 GMC with a more useable truck. Can't take the GMC skiing and the 12 MPG is killing me.

Here's a couple. It came with a canopy, took it off as soon as I got it home. It has squishy soft brakes and a leaky front hub (WARN) that will be my first tasks. Weber carb and desmog'd already. Doesn't leak anything, so I think I got got a solid base to start with. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions soon.
Thanks
