What would be the best radio to go in a 86 toyota 4x4 single cab and speaks?

 

I would think that any kind of radio you want would be fine. You just have to find something that you like and can afford.

I have a pioneer in mine right now. I cannot remember the exact model, but it works great.

I also have some kenwood speakers in the dash. which also sound pretty good.

 

If you dont mind me asking how much you pay for the pioneer radio.

Skys the limit as far as car audio goes. If you just want something to listen to while you drive, a $60 Kenwood and a $25 pair of coaxials in the factory dash location will more than please you. On the other hand, if you want all out sound quality, you're gonna want to redo the whole truck with sound deadening and blocking to quiet the cabin while you drive. Then you'll need a high end head unit with time alignment (google it), high end 2-way or even three way components and an amplifier(s) with crossovers to run them active. Then a good, articulate subwoofer to accurately reproduce the low end, in a properly tuned enclosure, don't forget a nice amplifier to power that. To power the amplifiers, you'll want a high output alternator and associated bigger wiring, and a high quality AGM battery. Don't forget the custom fiberglassing to accommodate those speakers, positioned for the best response and imaging.

You're looking at a range from <$100, to upwards of several grand. Depending on your budget, there are loads of choices.

I suspect you just want something to listen to though. Most of the lower to mid end headunits are going to have about the same features and specs. It all boils down to which radio feels the best to use for you. I prefer Kenwood over Pioneer, then Alpine. The other Japanese brands are also something to consider, JVC has been putting out some nice units as of recently, as they are now the same company as Kenwood, and some of the Sonys are fairly decent. Really can't go wrong with the "Big 3" Kenwood Pioneer and Alpine though.

As far as speakers go, I'm really partial to the Pioneer D-series speakers. The tweeters are a bit harsh out of the box, after they break in, they are very nice, much to my liking (I prefer very smooth sound rather than "crisp"). Very minimal EQing (as it should be) could be used to bring out a little more high end, if that is your preference. I've tortured the 6.5" component set with a true 200W per channel from my TruTechnology S44 (Google it, made in California, high end) and they took it like a champ. The 6.5" coaxials use the same tweeter and midrange, and also have a very nice sound.

 

budget is $60-$120 i have two pioneer speeks. Where would be place two put speaks in a single cab i have some ideas
