Anybody ever take apart steering column ?

Hi Guys,
I have a 88 2WD 22R with G57 5-speed Trans. I need to fix my steering column. If I grab the column in the engine compartment just above the steering box and shake it, it has slop at the firewall area. I have a couple tilt column's one from a truck and one from a 4runner I think. The one from the truck I have dis-assembled and the slop I think is in the metal blocks that mesh into the housing. I think I need these anti rattle rubbers but can't seem to find any. Any tips or pointers are appreciated. I did a search but don't see any info on people fixing these. Oh, I plan to try to swap in one of the tilt columns in while I have it all out.

Thanks,

Trying to find column parts is like finding hens teeth. Even for newer vehicle, and some of the parts are so expensive, we commonly use entire columns from the junk yard, and swap out the steering wheels and air bag modules.

I have repaired some older columns from tearing apart donors from parts. Many of the columns have a bearing in the center that can fail. I have not taken apart the column on the 4 runner, but most steering columns are very similar. If you take some pictures of the parts you are talking about I may be able to lend some more advice.

Appreciate your reply, I will get some pics later today or tomorrow and show you what I think is rattling.

Thanks,

Pic of Un assembled steering column.

The two blocks slide onto the dowel pin then the assembly goes into the round housing.

The two black dots are anti rattle rubbers. I think that this is where my non tilt original is loose. In the bottom pic you can see that I removed the seal. I have ordered a new seal, boot(not shown) and anti rattle rubbers( they only have 1) so I may make one or try to find another. The snap ring goes behind the seal.
