I have a 97 4runner sr5 with a clarion radio. I bought the truck with the radio installed by previous owner. the radio worked fine when I bought it but something happened when I reconnected my dash lights because my radio stopped working for about 2 months but I turned the key over yesterday and it turned on and worked fine. This morning turn the key and it's not working again? Can anyone think of what this could be?

 

Wiring issue or the radio has just gone bad. Take it out, fix any jenky wiring, and try a new deck. Or, get a known good factory deck and install it.

 

I have looked behind the radio and all wiring looks fine, although I'm no pro with electrical/wiring so wouldn't know "jenky wires" unless obvious. I also noticed that the radio has no fuse? Could it be internal? I just want to avoid any re-wiring because like I said wires are not my friend.

 

What do you need a radio for any way ??

They will soon be banned as to distracting while driving.

Check your ground .

Does this plug into the original harness all nice and neat or a whole nest of nasty butt connectors ??

pretty easy to say when working on your lights you moved something.

just how pray tell did you reconnect your dash lights??

Just why were they disconnected in the first place??

 

Bunch of connectors but I've seen a lot worse, where would the ground be? Why would it have worked for a day and then went back to not working? And I've heard nothing about radio banns in maine
