Whats up everyone. So I'm thinking on doing another engine swap here but I can't find everything from the dismantler like I got last time. My trucks an 89 4runner 4x4 m/t. I was curious if I can mix and match engine/engine harness/ECU?
(Only reasonable price I've found so far)--This guy told me he has a 97 3.4l 4runner (2wd) with an engine harness out of a 2001 4x4 and I'd have to find an ECU from somewhere else. ....>.< (sounds a little sketchy to me). So figured I'd ask the experts here.
Would that work or would the pinning in the ECU be different? and 2wd engine I'd need a 4wd correct ? I don't even know if the harness from the 01 would connect to everything on the 97 engine. Thanks for any advice.

 

Also keep in mind, my truck being m/tranny, the 97 2wd and 01 are a/tranny. I'd be buying my conversion harness so re pinning isn't happening.

 

electronics need to match the ecu (injectors, MAF, O2/AFR, tps, etc.)
