how to remove shifter boot on 4speed 1980 4x4
This is my First time posting and I am definitely a noobie! I have my grandfather's 1980 Toyota 4x4 truck with very low mileage and need to replace the shifter seat and bushing. The guy at the Parts dept said I would not have to remove the whole shifter bracket to do this. However I cannot seem to get the shifter boot off. Do yall have any suggestions? Thanks for your time.

You have removed the screws holding it?/
Now you must remember it has been on there maybe since 1980
perhaps a little silicone spray to help loosen things up.
It is going to be brittle after all these years it could tear quite easy.
