99 tacoma build

My younger brother just got a 99 tacoma 2wd

its the 4cyl Auto and says he thinks its a 2Rz

Its one of the lower single cab trucks and has virtually no ground clearance. He's pretty outdoors type of person and is considering lifting it only about 2-3" and changing the 14" to 15" rims and just get the truck to match the height of his previous truck (89 nissan pickup)

He asked about going blocks in the rear and in-coil spacer in the front.

I told him I would post the question on here and see what has worked for people or advice into getting a little bit more clearance.

So any and all advice would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone.

If he has the non-Prerunner 5-lug truck then blocks in the rear won't lift, it will lower. The next easiest way to lift the rear is longer shackles. I don't know about lifting the 2wd front. I guess spacers will work in front, although most Toyota guys avoid them.

Larger diameter tires will lift the axles up, but then your speedo and odo will be way off.

He bought the wrong truck if clearance is important.
