New to forum but looks like a great site.

Have a project truck that I'm trying to put back together. The a/c belt was missing when I purchased it. After looking at it I found the a/c tensioner pulley froze up. Went to autozone and purchased a new one.

Got it home and tried pulling the old one off. Removed the nut off the front of the pulley and the long bolt used for the actual tensioning of the belt. I thought the pulley would simply slide off afterwards but it will not come off. I don't want to go banging on it and bust the bracket.

What am I missing?

You're not missing anything, the only thing holding it on is that nut that faces the radiator, beneath that is a large cup shaped cover and then a thick washer against the bearing of the pulley. You don't need to remove that long bolt either as it just controls the tenionsers position laterally.

I just replaced my belts and it looks like my tensioner was/is frozen and the belt was just slipping on it, so I soaked it in solvent and oiled/greased it up but it still sounds like a coffee can full of marbles so I need to get a new one as well. How much was it?

Try heating it with a propane torch (as you're not planning on using it again), or try alternating hammer taps on opposite sides of the pulley. Or as a last resort just can pry between the bracket and the pulley.
