93 4cy Truck TIming Chain advice

Hello all, I am a newbie here. I was just wanting to get some advice on a 93 4cylinder Yota truck I am interested in buying. The truck has 90000 original miles and the dealership is not aware if the timing chain or head gaskets have been replaced. Should I be concerned about this? I have read that the timing chain should last the lifetime of the engine but since the truck is 20 years old I was just wondering if this is something that needs addressed now?

Also does anyone else have any input on other common problems associated with 93 trucks?

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks!

The timing chain does not last a lifetime, someone is pumping you full of BS...hopefully not the salesman.

Toyota reccommends to replace the timing chain at 90,000 miles. Also, the CORRECT way to replace the timing chain is to remove the head and do the the headgasket at the same time. It is due to how the HG seals the top of the timing chain cover. Now, plenty of people will say you can get away without pulling the head, but they also don't mind oil leaks and a half done job.

Use this as a barginging chip to get the price down, most places will charge $1500 to $2000 to do the job right.
